Tefillah
Tefillah - prayer is one of the most fundamental and important subjects of a Day Schools Judaic program. Often overlooked, this is perhaps one of the most difficult instructional courses to impart to our students. While we can give the children time to pray, and show the m how, we must remember to impart the feelings and messages behind these prayers. The goal of the class should not be teaching your students why we pray! Instilling in your students the value of prayer and the desire for prayer is true success.
Tefilla Cards - Bookmark ring
It is encouraged to have a weekly inspiring class on tefillah. The rest of the days of the week you can review a thought (previously taught) to inspire that days davening. Create a bookmark ring with a collection of all the ideas taught to accompany the siddur. Every day you can review one card, or one tefilla. Giving students ownership of presenting a card a day, is a great way to make the messages more personal and empower them to really take it to heart. Copying different parts of tefillah on different colored card stock, aside from adding excitement and significance to the tefillah cards it can help in locating the prayer or card on a daily basis.
